11 Thoughts & Questions

Caity tagged me in one of those meme things again, so I figured that would be a cue to come out of hiding. So here goes.

Questions from Caity

1. If you had to give up one of your 5 senses what would you be able to live without?

I would be ok without my sense of smell, I think. The world kinda stinks.

2. Do you have a running list of things you want to fix or improve around your house? What are the top-three home-improvement projects on your to-do list?

I do have a list! 1] Paint rooms the remaining rooms. 2] Fix up the bathroom so its not so old looking. 3] Clean the carpets (waiting on Ziggy to be 100% potty trained).

3. How would you rate your skills in the kitchen? What’s the last thing you made?

On a scale from 1-10 I would probably rate my kitchen skills as a 9. Last Monday I made flatbread pizzas for me and James. They are so easy and delicious. Here are the ones I usually make: here & here.

4. What was your favorite activity at the playground when you were a kid?

Sandbox & Monkey bars!

5. Which are your favorite sites for shopping online?

I try to avoid shopping online, but recently, I am in love with Fab.com & Etsy.

No, I don’t really have any scars, other than minor ones from being a klutz.

Chipotle.

10. Have you experienced a dream that affected your approach to a real life situation?

I don’t think so. I’ve had some really crazy, vivid dreams which sometimes cause me to feel weird when I wake up. That’s about it, though.

This week has flown by! Thank goodness, as it was not good. I did have a somewhat decent Valentines Day, though. We had a fancy dinner in the city, which was very nice & extra delicious. I hope the rest of you had an enjoyable Heart Day, as well. [=

I am hopeful for a good weekend. I look forward to staying in and getting some housework completed. For once, I don’t really feel like going anywhere and doing anything this weekend. Quick! Call a doctor, I must be sick! :-P

I hope you all have a great one!

Anchor bitten by dog

16 Feb

I don’t know if you people have heard, but a Denver anchor was bitten in the face by a Argentina Mastiff while on the air. Here is a news article from Yahoo, for all of my two readers to check out. Now, they say that they have cited the owner for violation of the leash law and not having the dog properly vaccinated and they’ve quarantined the dog for 10 days for evaluation.

Um.. yea. I watched the video of the actual dog bite (you can find it on youtube if you are dying to see it), and yea that lady had it coming to her. You could clearly see the dog was stressed and was going to react negatively. The anchor lady shouldn’t have went in for the kiss that led to reconstructive surgery. Learn to read body language, people!

If I see some cute looking dog on the street, regardless of size, I’m not gonna kneel down and get all up in its face and ask for kisses. I’ve been bit by a dog before and it wasn’t pleasant.. wasn’t my fault or anything. I was a kid at my grandparent’s house and I was out playing when all of a sudden this strange, aggressive dog comes out of nowhere charging at me. It bit me on the leg as I ran away. I was pretty much scared of any dog, for awhile after that, but obviously I have conquered my fear. ;)

The whole thing makes me mad in general because they blame the dog & owner and not the anchor. It just goes to show that people are ignorant when it comes to animals. Just because it looks cute & seems happy, doesn’t mean it really is.

I have so much I want to say about Pit Bulls and other breeds that are stereotyped into the “always aggressive” category, but I just don’t know where to begin and I’m just you all don’t want to hear me rant about it either.

Speaking of dogs, I’m going to go feed my little one now.

Bad Doctors & Good Weekends

13 Feb

I had a really good weekend, for once. I am coming down from a weekend high, I think. I hope this coming weekend is just as good as the one I just had.

Friday started off pretty awful, I will admit. I went to the foot doctor to have my left foot checked out, and yea. He was not very helpful at all and was very rude and unprofessional. I’m going to try to find another doctor, hopefully more competent. Until then, I’ve discovered that 600mg of Ibuprofen ever 8 hours keeps the pain mostly under control and at a tolerable level. I am not one that likes to take medicine. I usually avoid it, but that is no longer an option. The day did end on a good note, though. We had take out, I had beer, and we played board games. So a good ending to what I thought was going to be a crappy day.

Saturday night we went to the new Heavy Seas Ale House that I have been looking forward to going to ever since they made the announcement a few months back. They weren’t supposed to open until the 15th, but they opened a week early. We went, despite the cold & crappy weather, and it was a good time. Lots of good food and beer. I was 100% happy. We will definitely be back, but not too often as its a little bit too fancy to be eating all the time.

Sunday. I usually hate Sundays due to the grocery shopping and running around all day, but this Sunday seemed a lot more relaxed despite our errands. I don’t know what changed and made it more enjoyable, but it was definitely a good day.

Hooray for awesome weekends. I feel good today, too. I will take this rare day and get a lot accomplished. [=

Pinky Toe

9 Feb

My pinky toe, the one on the punkin foot has probably been broken for the past year and a half. It has really bothered, but lately the pain has been quite intense. So, tomorrow, I am giving in and going to the foot doctor. I am quite anxious and scared. I don’t want to be in more pain than I am already in at the moment. I’m just going to suck it up and just do it already. I wish I didn’t have to go to the doctor alone, but alas, that is my life; doing things alone.

But yea, it is sort of a relief to be getting this done. It is much needed. No more painful showers! (standing on flat surfaces barefoot really upset little ol’ pinky.)

New Favorite Snack

6 Feb

Nutella & ricemellow spread onto a rice cake. Yes. So delicious and dangerously addicting.

What are your favorite snacks?

So many things..

2 Feb

…that I want to do with my life, but I just don’t know where to begin. It is absolutely overwhelming. So, I do nothing instead. I need to figure everything out, but I just don’t know how. I feel like I’m in an endless rut.

I think after the dogs’ next vet appointment I may go home for a few weeks. We’ll, see, though. My visits to home never last very long. I don’t have a high tolerance for my mother, plus I get homesick for Baltimore real quick.

The first month

31 Jan

Things that happened in January -

We acquired Ziggy at the beginning of the month. He has definitely sprouted and a little bigger than Oscar now. I think he is the only good thing to really happen so far this year. Everything else has been kinda bleh.

I’ve kept up walking the dogs. I haven’t been doing it everyday, but most days. Some days, they get walked twice.

I have been terrible at eating vegetarian/vegan. Especially over this past weekend. I couldn’t fight the cravings! I have been cooking a lot, though, so the only time I’ve been failing at vegan is when we go out to eat. With my new found love of Wegmans, I actually look forward to going to the grocery store these days. I must be getting old if I enjoy grocery shopping?

I read a total of five books so far this month. Heart of the Matter, How to Raise the Perfect Dog, & The Hunger Game series. I plan on starting another book either today or tomorrow, but I haven’t decided on what I want to read yet. Too many decisions to pick from. Have I ever mentioned that I have a hard time making decisions? Seriously. Worst thing ever for me.

I was supposed to see this guy, Anthony Green, on the 14th, but I just could not bring myself to do it. I had a very bad mental/anxiety day and I could not bare the thought of going to a concert alone, even though I’ve done it in the past. I don’t regret it, but I hope to catch him again this summer. I did, however, get a ticket to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers in DC. Its a few months away, but still looking forward to it.

I’ve been keeping up with my daily photo, too. I’m 140 days into it. It has helped that I’ve been using a combination of a photo challenge & flickr for prompts, it really helps on those days where I have no idea what to photograph.

Here’s to a better February!
